SMASH THE CAKE – You should consider this

Cake smash sessions are a great way to celebrate your baby turning one! It’s an important milestone to celebrate, so what better way to do this than with a smash and splash session so you have fun and get images to look back on.

Our top tips for Smash-the-Cake sessions:

Cake smash sessions are held in our studio.

You should book when your baby 10 to 12 months old.

The session will take approximately 40 to 90 minutes.

Happy Kids Photo Studio will provide a range of props and decorations for the photo session, but feel free to bring along any other clothing or accessories that you may wish to have included but don’t be put off by the less is more look.

Decide on an outfit in advance and keep it simple, many parents tend to bring lots of banners, balloons, and props that can make pictures look a bit messy. We prefer to keep things simple so we can focus on the little one.

The cake smash session will also get very messy, so it's important for parents to wear clothing that is OK to get dirty.

The Cake: For cake smash sessions, the cake can be as simple or detailed as you would like. Choose either to bring your own home-made cake, or if you don't have time you can find affordable cakes at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury, Waitrose, Costco, please avoid cakes with hard icing.

We do not provide cakes due to different dietary and allergy restrictions that your baby may have.

Parents can be included in the session for a few photos so please bring some outfits if you want to.

It’s also a very good idea to bring along drinks and snacks for you and for the baby, even if the session takes 40-90 minutes you may be in the studio for about 2 hours.

Let your baby have cake at least 2 times in the weeks leading up to the cake smash session. This way they will be familiar with cake and more excited about it rather than being in the exploration phase. It's also a great chance for you to find out which type of cake your baby prefers, if there are any allergies or sensitivity from the icing colouring and if they even like the texture of icing…believe it or not, a lot of babies are put off by the texture of the icing so if you can find this out before the session, it should result in a happier session.

At the start of the session we will take photos of your baby on different backdrops. This is also a chance to grab some “clean baby” photos as well as getting them used to their surrounding before the fun begins. We may also get a photo of the cake before the action starts as the little details work well to tell a story in a photo collage.

If your baby has a fever or is not feeling well on the day of the session, then it needs to be rescheduled. We do ask that you give as much warning as possible but also understand sometimes short notice can’t be helped.

At the end of the session, no later than 7 days after you get the edited photos free of watermarks at the largest number of megapixels, full copyrights so you can print them wherever you want, the number of photos you get depends on the package you chose.

To book your session you can contact us by our contact form on our website www.happykidsphoto.co.uk  sedn us a message on facebook or give us a call
